140 suspects rounded-up in Peshawar operation

In a bid to counter growing trends of terrorism and acts of violence in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the law enforcing agencies (LEA) launched a drive and arrested more than 140 suspects on Saturday.
According to an official, the arrested suspects and criminals included three top militant commanders wanted in various criminal acts.
The official informed that Peshawar Police initiated a search operation in the limits of Pishtakhara and Badhabher Police Stations on Friday evening. So far more than 140 suspects have been arrested from different areas. The police official also claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of weapons and explosive materials from the possession of the nabbed accused.
The official further said that there was a good chance that some of these suspects were linked with militant organizations, as the LEA also recovered four motorcycles used in recent terrorist acts near Peshawar. Upon completion of preliminary interrogation, the innocent would be let free whereas the remaining would have to go through a thorough investigation process.
Besides Peshawar, similar actions were also being carried out in other main cities and districts of the province. Reports from Charsadda revealed that the LEA, in a raid, succeeded in arresting two notorious militant commanders affiliated with the banned militant outfit Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The arrested persons, identified as Noor Mohammad and Habib Gul, have been shifted to an unknown location for further investigation.
Similarly, the LEA have also claimed to have arrested notorious militant commander, namely Ali, from Charbagh, Swat. Commander Ali was associated with the TTP Swat chapter that is headed by Fazalullah, and was involved in several terrorist acts, including setting on fire a government school. He was handed over to secret security agencies for investigation.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently, more than a 100 people, including personnel and officers of KP police, were killed in various terrorist acts mostly taking place in the surrounding areas of Peshawar city.
