  • CDA allocates Rs 334.373m for Kashmir Highway

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday allocated Rs 334.373 million for adding the third and fourth lane to the Kashmir Highway from Peshawar Mor to Golra Mor.

This amount was approved in the CDA budget for the financial year 2013-14. The initial project was started in February 2012 with a cost of Rs 4.8 billion. It would now be widened to five-lanes on both sides.

The construction work on the new Islamabad airport would also be completed next year, increasing the traffic on this route.

CDA Chairman Nadeem Hassan Asif has visited the construction sites and directed the authority’s engineering wing to speed up construction work on the Kashmir Highway. He was dissatisfied with the slow pace of development work on the Kashimir Highway and directed the engineering member to complete it within three months. He also directed the engineering member to chalk out a three-month-long completion plan for the project immediately, ensuring international standards and quality.

The chairman also directed concerned officers to ensure proper security at depressions located on the highway’s construction sites.

He also inspected various phases of the Kashmir Highway; especially the sections between Peshawar Morr and the toll plaza.
