Karachi Administrator Hashim Raza announced the launching of LinesAreaParkingPlaza on Thursday.
The administrator, addressing a meeting on the launch of the plaza, told the participants that the facility was equipped with the latest technology and was fully equipped to record car data and drivers’ information which would be used to update a database making the facility one of the most modern in the metropolis. Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Athar was also present in the meeting. The officials were briefed how the Transport & Communication Department had finalized measures to guarantee the smooth running of the project from today (Friday) More than 60 CCTV cameras have been installed for security arrangements in parking plaza through which the entire structure will be monitored by a central and dedicated control room in addition to the construction of checking booths at all entrances to not only ensure security but facilitate customers, which the facility will do by maintaining a database of the plazas users. Karachi Municipal Committee (KMC) officials have also been deployed at the parking plaza. The meeting was also informed that despite of all these measures police support will also be necessary to deal with eventualities such as dealing with encroachers and other anti-social elements that might be attracted towards this modern project. The KMC administrator while addressing the participants said that LinesAreaParkingPlaza was the potential solution to the city’s age old problem of traffic congestion. Raza said that the construction of this project will ease traffic woes for the Saddar and adjoining areas and was thus a very ambitious project.
