Germany lauds Pakistan’s role in facilitating Doha peace process


Germany on Friday lauded Pakistan’s role in facilitating the Doha peace process in Afghanistan as part of efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
These views were expressed by German Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Michael Koch, during a meeting held here with Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
The arrival of the German dignitary marked the beginning of a series of meetings of the diplomats from NATO countries to be held with Pakistani officials to help promote dialogue process between the Taliban and the US in Doha, Qatar.
During the meeting, bilateral relations and regional situation, including latest developments in Afghanistan, were discussed. Ambassador Koch said that Germany was fully committed to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan, particularly economic and trade relations.
Meanwhile, Aziz reiterated Pakistan’s desire to work closely for consolidation of bilateral relations and partnership with Germany in all spheres of cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and investment.
