A Chinese firm has agreed to resume work on Nandipur Power project, which has a capacity to generate 450MW of electricity. The decision was made after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is part of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s delegation to China, met the company and assured his government’s full support. The Chinese company asked its engineers to reach Pakistan and start work on the project. The project was stalled after Chinese engineers left Pakistan over long delays in arrival of machineries during the previous PPP regime. Chinese officials reportedly told Sharif that they had told President Asif Ali Zardari that delay was causing a hefty loss.
