Violence claims 9 lives in a day

As many as nine more persons including a woman were gunned down in a fresh spate of violence on Thursday.

Gunshots and bomb explosions were heard in separate areas of Lyari and panic gripped the whole area due to which the business activities remained completely suspended.

Peerabad Police also claimed that they shot two alleged extortionists dead. The worst-hit areas are Pool Patti Lean, Agra Taj, Hangorabad and Rahimabad where the bullet and rocket attacks were continuing unabated.

Some unidentified armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire on woman namely Zulikha killing her instantly while a man was gunned down in Sarjani.

In another incident, a man was shot dead in Garden Usmanabad while some unknown armed personnel riding a motorcycle opened unprovoked fire on Asad Ullah, 32, and he died on the spot.

Two dead bodies were recovered from Lee Market and Sarjani. A dead body of a peon namely Khalil was found from board of revenue building near the high court while another man was killed in firing at Orangi Town near Dabba More.

In the area of Site, a CID person namely Anwar lost his life in a firing incident while Peerabad police gunned down two extortionists in an encounter.

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of Police launched a target operation in Machar Colony and started door-to-door search and arrested 25 suspected criminals.
