The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid said on Wednesday that the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah should be made a more beautiful and informative place for visitors. Rashid spoke at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on National Heritage and Integration, which took place at the Parliament House and was chaired by the Committee Chairperson Shirala Malik. The minister directed the officials of National Heritage to avoid commercial activities in the premises of the mausoleum and focus on the promotion of cultural activities. He also directed officials to remove the solar panels installed on the rooftop of the adjacent museum. He said that for the further beautification of Mazar-e-Quaid the opinions of the Standing Committee members and the general public should be honored, as it would give them a sense of ownership. Responding to a question from a committee member, Rashid said that the Senate Committee had nothing to do with the processions being organized in the premises of the mausoleum, adding that those fell under the purview of the provincial government.
