Poland and Pakistan have agreed to establish a joint Economic Commission and signing memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of energy and mineral resources. The agreement was reached as part of the visit of a delegation headed by Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Bokhari of Pakistan. During the meetings, the two sides also discussed steps to enhance bilateral trade, said a message received here from Poland.
Both sides while showing satisfaction at the current level of the trade, expressed their hope that the full potential will be exploited to the mutual benefit of the trading communities of the two countries. Pakistani delegation was greeted at the Polish Parliament by Marshal of the Senate Bogdan Borusewicz. The Senate Chairman was later welcomed at Plenary Session of the Senate after which he jointly inaugurated an exhibition “Poland-Pakistan Lasting Friendship’ with his polish counterpart in the Polish senate.
The inauguration was attended by a large number of Parliament members. In his remarks at the opening ceremony, the Chairman highlighted the history of friendly relations which started with the help of polish pilots during the formative years of Pakistan Air Force just after the independence of Pakistan in 1947.
The relations grew from strength to strength with passing years. He specially mentioned Polish Mountaineer’s love for the Northern areas of Pakistan where they have fascination for the peaks of Pakistan. He assured the Polish lovers of Pakistan mountain climbing that the Government of Pakistan will provide all facilities and ensure the safety of the visitors. Other engagements of the Chairman during the day included holding meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister, Speaker of the Polish Sejm and the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, as well as attending a lunch hosted by Jerzy Wenderlich, Chairman of the Polish-Pakistan Parliamentary Group.
The Group has recently been formed comprising members of Senate and Sejm (Lower House). The Chairman thanked his Polish hosts for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation and expressed the hope that his visit will further promote the cordial relations between the two countries.
He thanked the Polish Government for the support extended to Pakistan on the Autonomous Trade Preferences that allowed enhanced trade between Pakistan and Poland.
The Polish Marshal of Senate recalled his successful visit to Pakistan last year and expressed satisfaction at the continuation of Parliamentary exchanges between the two sides.
