Rangers did not target Boxer ‘specifically’

The Sindh Rangers spokesman has said that Saqib Boxer had been involved in serious crimes including killings and extortion, and Rangers did not execute him pacifistically but he was killed as a result of exchange of fire during a search operation.

The spokesman said a targeted operation was carried out in Nayabad neighbourhood of Lyari Town on Friday as a routine action to maintain law and order. A Rangers team was shot at by the accused. “The Rangers retaliated with gun fire and resultantly one of the accused was killed. He was later identified as Saqib alias Boxer,” he said.

The spokesman further said that a number of cases were registered against Saqib for his involvement in various crimes including killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortion.

He said Saqib was also accused of killing four people including a woman in Kharadar and injuring a dozen others on the same day before his own killing.
