Rangers did not target Boxer ‘specifically’

The Sindh Rangers spokesman has said that Saqib Boxer had been involved in serious crimes including killings and extortion, and Rangers did not execute him pacifistically but he was killed as a result of exchange of fire during a search operation.

The spokesman said a targeted operation was carried out in Nayabad neighbourhood of Lyari Town on Friday as a routine action to maintain law and order. A Rangers team was shot at by the accused. “The Rangers retaliated with gun fire and resultantly one of the accused was killed. He was later identified as Saqib alias Boxer,” he said.

The spokesman further said that a number of cases were registered against Saqib for his involvement in various crimes including killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortion.

He said Saqib was also accused of killing four people including a woman in Kharadar and injuring a dozen others on the same day before his own killing.

    The crime rate in Karachi has increased manifold ever since PPP rose to power in 2008 as its leaders like AbdulQadir Patel and Zulfiqar Mirza have been patronizing the organised criminals of Lyari gangs to indulge in extortions, target killings, car jackings, qabza mafia etc…

    If PPP & it’s inherited leader Zardari are sincere to the people of Karachi, they must abandon the gangsters and help the law enforcement agencies in bringing these criminals to justice.

    This is the first time that Rangers have conducted killed a high-profile criminal and this has become possible only when PMLN government has took over the federal government and made Rnagers independent of political influence.

    When the criminals are caught their patrons & supporters should also caught for aiding in crime.
