The metropolis was once again on the receiving end of a major power breakdown after the main Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) high-tension wire near Baldia developed a major fault, however, it was removed and electricity was restored to the city.
What followed this was a chain reaction which tripped five grid stations and caused the failure of over 80 feeders paralyzing the provincial capital. The KESC spokesman claimed that a technical fault in the mainline had caused the massive breakdown. Further naming the affected localities, which included Baldia town, Orangi town, Maripur, Landhi, New Karachi, Haroonabad and the more posh areas of Clifton and Defence, he claimed the fault was dealt with in a time of less than half an hour and there was no question of negligence on the company’s part.
