- Capital city’s police allegedly patronize prostitutes in Sector F-7 as citizens fall victim to alluring eyes leading them to an ambush
Kohsar Police is allegedly patronising pimping business as several prostitutes are operating in its jurisdiction without any check, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Jinnah Super Market, one of the busiest markets situated in the posh area of Sector F-7, is thronged by food lovers due to its popular eateries and many trendy high-end boutiques, where many come to shop their hearts out.
However, side by side the there exists the oldest profession in the world which has found a sanctuary in the dark alleys of the market.
Prostitutes in flashy dresses and heavy make-up lure passers-by by their explicit body language. Once the customer falls to the shady advertisement, the next step is to decide the charges.
However, there’s a final twist in the tale. The ever vigilant arm of the law in collusion with the call girls is more than willing to seize what it considers its fair share. The customers-to-be submit to official writ and the final chapter of this story ends with a bribe, after which the policemen conveniently disposes off the case.
Raza Hassan* a business man who was a victim of such antics by the capital police told Pakistan Today that he was driving along the Jinnah Super Market when a woman motioned at him for a lift.
Raza narrates that when he stopped his car she openly invited him for sex. Upon failure to resist, he agreed to pay Rs 8,000 per hour for her services. He said that the moment he drove off with the prostitute, a police car intercepted him and three policemen motioned him to come out.
While the woman escaped, the policemen abused Raza verbally and physically assaulted him. They threatened to register a case against him unless he gave them some money after which he could go home. He told that he was deprived of all the cash he was carrying amounting to Rs 13,000 and was threatened against bringing the incident to the limelight.
Meanwhile, a sex worker Babli told Pakistan Today about a mafia she has been running for the last two years, comprising of four girls who are put on display at the Jinnah Super Market at night to offer services. She admitted to having links and arrangements with Kohsar Police under a 50/50 formula.
“We give 50 percent of our earnings to the police for allowing us to continue with our work,” she said.
When contacted, Kohsar Police Station SHO Ghulam Baqar stated that he took charge of his duty a month ago and is doing his best to put sex workers behind the bars. He said, “During the previous month we registered two FIRs against prostitutes at Jinnah Super Market who are now languishing in jail.”
He said that according to his information, the business was coming to an end however he would further investigate the matter. To a query regarding police officials’ involvement in the sex business, he said that good and bad people exist everywhere.
