A man chopped off his daughter-in-law’s nose and cut her head hair in anger after trying to rape her in the area of Mansoorabad police station on Tuesday.
Police reported that Bashir Ahmad (50), a resident of Dastagir Colony, attempted to rape his daughter-in-law, Attiya Bibi. When she resisted, Ahmad became infuriated and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon.
“Ahmad chopped her nose and also cut her head hair, besides inflicting serious injuries on other parts of her body,” police said.
“The lady raised a hue and cry, over which the neighbours and other people in the area gathered on the spot. They tried to overpower the accused, but he escaped,” they said.
The people immediately called Rescue 1122, which transported Atiyya Bibi to Allied Hospital Faisalabad where her condition is stated to be serious.
Dr Ghulam Rasool, who was on duty in the emergency ward, told reporters that the hospital was providing intensive care treatment to Attiya, who was hit severely on her arms, legs and face. He also said that during the initial checkup, Attiya was found to be five months pregnant, which makes her condition more critical.
Rayasat Ali, one of Ahmad’s neighbours, commented: “Upon hearing Attiya’s cries, I immediately rushed to her house and saw that Ahmad was stabbing her and hurling threats of dire consequences if someone attempted to catch him.”
He alleged that “Ahmad is a criminal-minded person who has subjected Attiya to torture, physically and sexually, a number of times. All the neighbours are vexed by his wrong deeds, and want exemplary punishment for him.”
When contacted, the SHO of Mansoorabad police said that the police had not yet received any formal complaint against Ahmad. “We would take action after receiving a receipt of complaint and a medical examination report,” he said.
The delay by police department will help to abscond the culprit. What Police thinks that this is a fabricated story? They are waiting for words from victim and if she do not survive then, what they will do ?
