Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that merely solving the country’s electricity crisis would not curb terrorism.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a two-day health conference in Lahore, the chief minister said that the problem of terrorism could only be resolved if social inequalities were eliminated and the entire system was revamped.
Moreover, he said that four martial laws in the country had destroyed it.
Chief Minister Shahbaz added that basic amenities like health and education which were available to the society’s elite were not accessible to ordinary members of the public, a problem which needed the government’s immediate attention. He cited Cuba’s example, saying that it had the world’s best health system. Moreover, he said that despite manifold troubles, African countries were not plagued by measles which was prevalent only in Pakistan and Afghanistan, leading to the deaths of many children.
