Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) in collaboration with Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) will hold a Pakistan Capital Markets Conference in Islamabad on July 3 (Wednesday). The event is aimed at preparing a roadmap for market-based development agenda in support of the new government’s economic growth objectives and Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal had also consented to be the chief guest, LSE sources told APP on Monday. Since the new government is inclined to spur a culture of widespread investment and introduce broad-based economic growth policies in the country, therefore, the domestic capital markets also need to prepare their vision to supplement emerging economic priorities of the government, they said. The LSE passionately looks forward to the conference as first step towards developing the capital markets in line with government’s economic goals. The conference, they added, has been featured in a manner that it would receive inputs from economists, market regulators and academicians etc, and recommend practicable policy level interventions for the government so that the market can play its due role in the social and economic development of the country. Sources said the conference would specifically focus on some of the key industry sectors/economic areas in which the markets can be useful for infusing growth, such as the privatization and secondary offerings via capital markets, infrastructure & debt financing through the market, the use of capital market eco-system for the modernization of agriculture, energy and housing markets to promote corporate governance etc.
