Imran urges PM, COAS and KP govt to formulate policy to curb terrorism

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday called for formulation of a policy by the prime minister in consultation with the chief of army staff (COAS) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to curb terrorism in KP.
Addressing a party convention on Sunday, Imran Khan said there were different forms of terrorism in FATA, KP, Karachi and Balochistan and would have to be dealt with different means. He said he had written a letter to the PM for formulation of a national policy in consultation with political and military leadership to deal with terrorism. He said in KP terrorism could not be overcome until the PM, the COAS and the KP government sit together and reach a consensus formula. He said they would have to hold dialogue with the Taliban at political level.
Imran said KP would be made a role model for other provinces. He said the PTI would make the KP surplus in power generation which would be exported to other provinces. He said various projects of power generation would be announced in the coming weeks.
The PTI chief said that the local government system would also be taken to village level where people would identify projects that would be implemented by the provincial government.
Imran said no party would be able to challenge his party in future. He added that the PTI was the only party that had brought 80 percent new leadership in the elections.
Commenting on intra-party and general elections, he said, “Nations learn from mistakes.”
The PTI chief admitted that mistakes had been taken place in intra-party elections. He said real leadership would come forward after next party elections.
The PTI chairman announced to form an independent accountability cell in KP that would be free from the government influence.
He added that departments would have to pay fine as penalty over delaying citizen’s works and bonus would be awarded to those who redress problems timely.
Meanwhile, Imran will preside over the party’s parliamentary board meeting on Monday (today) to discuss tickets for by-elections.
