SC disposed off 359 cases in a week

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed off 359 cases, whereas 335 new cases have been instituted during the period 22 June to 28 June. The accumulated backlog remains at 18,932.

With addition of 335 new cases, the progressive total of pending cases on June 28 totalled 19,291.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various benches at the principal seat, Islamabad and at branch registries Lahore and Quetta to expedite case hearings.

The chief justice and the judges of the apex court accelerated pace for hearing of cases in order to clear the existing backlog.
