Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has expressed displeasure over appointment of incompetent law officers in the office of the Punjab Advocate General.
“Additional and assistant advocate generals know nothing about what they have to do and how they have to assist the court. Battalions upon battalions’ are appointed but no one does any work. They should be shifted to some other place in Islamabad,” he said further while hearing a case on Friday.
The CJP said “rooms have been allocated for advocate general in the SC. We will not accept the Punjab AG’s apology unless action is taken against these incompetent people”.
The Punjab AG appeared in the court in person and apologised for the incompetence of the law officers appointed in his office.
He said 20 law officers had been relieved due to incompetence and the cases of the remaining law officers were being reviewed. “I will talk to the Punjab chief minister in this regard,” he said.
