In a brilliant change of policy, the Sindh government has decided to focus on the improvement of medical systems in the rural areas, a plan for which almost 500 newly recruited doctors and nurses are to be posted to the province’s rural and underdeveloped areas.
Sindh Health Secretary Inamullah Dharejo said Friday that the administration was well aware of the difficulties being faced by the people in rural areas and intended to alter the status quo by implementing new and innovative policies.
“All fresh inductees would be posted in the areas of their domicile,” he said mentioning that no new recruitments were going on in urban areas.
Answeing a question regarding shortage of medical personnel, he quashed the idea saying that there was no dearth of trained professionals in his department.
He however said that a culture of seeking transfers to urban areas existed which needed to and to an extent eas being dealt with.
Dharejo further said that procurement of new facilities and systems was underway which would massively improve the situation in the province.
About the induction of 1,500 more medical staff through the Sindh Public Service Commssion (SPSC) he stated that all such selections were made on merit and that was the only criterion in his unit.
