MNAs call out provincial govts for lack of action against minorities’ persecution

Lawmakers belonging to minorities on Friday urged the government to take immediate steps to mitigate miseries being faced by minority groups across the country.

Speaking on a point of order, Ramesh Kumar urged the government to take notice of the highhandedness being meted out to Hindu tribes.

He said that a young girl belonging to Hindu community had been kidnapped from Shahdadpur, Sindh but no effort had been made for her return. He said that the girl was married and had four children. He urged the federal government to contact Sindh government for the early recovery of the abducted girl.

He said that a temple of the Hindu community had also been occupied by some people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for over ten years.

He said that the Hindu community had requested two former governments of KP to take notice of the occupation but to no avail.

He urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to take notice of the matter.

Responding to the request, PTI Deputy Parliamentary leader

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he would take up the matter with KP chief minister and assured him that serious efforts would be made to return the temple to the Hindu community.

Dr Darshan also raised the problems being faced by Hindu community in Sindh and said that the Hindu community members were being targeted in Sindh and Balochistan as they were being killed and their properties were being captured.

He urged the federal government to contact the respective provincial governments and sought action against the miscreants involved in these incidents.
