The Backstreet Boys made the rounds on Wednesday with appearances on early and late talk shows in New York City to promote their new album. The all-grown up five-piece band that consists of A.J. McLean, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell made an appearance on NBC’s morning The Today Show and later appeared on CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman.
The band formed in Florida in 1993 and will release their eighth studio album titled In A World Like This on July 30.
In April the Backstreet Boys received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles surrounded by their growing families and a throng of fans. The boyband enjoyed immediate success with the 1996 international debut of their self-titled album and over 20 years have sold more than 130 million records worldwide.
The group, which is the top selling boy band of all time, also will have a documentary about them released next year. As a measure of their international fame, the band’s worldwide hit single I Want It That Way topped the singles charts in more than 25 countries.
The bandmates have been busy lately with a May tour in China supporting the new album.
The group will perform in more than two dozen shows in August and September in the U.S. and are also scheduled to tour Japan in October.
The Backstreet Boys resumed as a full quintet after Kevin agreed last year to rejoin the group. The bandmates also have been expanding their families lately with 35-year-old A.J. and wife Rochelle welcoming daughter Ava in November. Howie and his wife had their second child in February. Kevin recently announced that he and his wife Kristin are going to have another baby in a photo he shared on Twitter showing her displaying a baby bump with the Easter bunny.
