32nd National Games to kick-off from today


The 32nd National Games will kick-off from today at Pakistan Sports Complex with a colorful opening ceremony. Nearly 2000 athletes, both male and female from across the country will take part in the week long games.
This was stated by the Organising Committee Chairman and CDA Chairman Nadeem Hassan on Thursday along with Organising Committee Secretary Rana Mujhaid and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Chairman Interim Committee at at the complex’s media center.
The CDA chairman said that final touches have been given to the overall preparation for smooth conduct of the games in order to make it a huge success “The games will continue till 4 July and will feature 29 sports, including 11 women events, with majority of events taking place at different centers of the complex”, he said.
Hassan also said that all female athletes will be accommodated at PSB hostels while all male athletes will stay at different hotels in the federal capital while a media centre has also been established sports complex. He said that special security measures have been adopted and IG Zafar Abbas Luk has been given charge of the security.
He highlighted that the government released Rs 80 million for the national games adding that Olympian legends will bear the Olympic torch. The torch rally will be start at 2:30 PM from Faisal Mosque while the opening ceremony will be start at 5:30 PM at Jinnah Stadium.
