Don’t write us off: Ajmal

Pakistan’s star spinner Saeed Ajmal believes that the Pakistan team has enough blood running in its body to stand tall once again.

The Pakistan cricket team failed to win even a single match in the recently-concluded Champions Trophy. Worse! The team couldn’t even bat through the full quota of 50 overs, thus prompting many to raise question mark about its batting abilities. However, Ajmal said that his side has enough ability to bounce back from the current rut.

“Don’t write us off. We know people are very disappointed with our performance in England but we will make amends by performing better in the coming series,” Ajmal said.

He added “The players were disheartened and upset with what happened. We let down our supporters in England. But the team’s future is not bleak and we are capable of performing much better in the upcoming series.”

“It’s not that the team didn’t try. Every player gave his best to lift the side. The conditions were very difficult and unfortunately we just didn’t click as a unit. On the other hand, the teams that adapted well achieved good results in the tournament. We will learn from our mistakes and bounce back quickly,” Ajmal reasoned.

Ajmal conceded that Pakistan’s tour to West Indies will be a tough tour as the hosts are in good form and have some quality players in their ranks. In his words, he said “West Indies have a good one day squad with some top players. I am looking forward to bowling to their quality players like Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels.”

Let’s hope that Pakistan, indeed turns it around with the bat in the coming future. For if they do so, the world knows how lethal their bowling can be. And with both the departments doing well together, they will definitely turn out to be a side to watch out for!
