260 cops back on duty

As many as 260 policemen have rejoined their duties in Islamabad police after decision of Interior Ministry to end `outdoor’ duties’, said Islamabad Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan while addressing a ceremony at police line headquarters held to distribute uniform among police officials. Khan has urged all police officials to provide maximum relief to citizens by resolving their complaints on their doorstep. He said that the city’s police have achieved great success in the past and that they should continue their hard work to maintain peace in the city. The ceremony was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Headquarters) Sajid Kiani, SP (Investigation) Mustansar Feroze and SP (Headquarters) Shabih Hussain among other senior police officials. Kiani also addressed matters of police welfare, saying that uniforms are being provided in time and all other issues would be addressed on a priority basis. He said that the question of residential quarters for policemen has also been resolved and that the city police have been included in the official residential pool following directions from the apex court. The IGP said that 400 retired army men had been recruited into the city police on a temporary basis. He maintained that letters would be issued to them soon, and their services would be regularized. He appreciated the policemen who have remained committed to their professional duties in tough weather and assured full support in resolving their problems and providing them with maximum relief.
