SC moved for dismissal of Sindh CM, disqualification of finance adviser

A constitutional petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking dismissal of the Sindh chief minister and disqualification of his Adviser on Finance Murad Ali Shah and also requested that Shah’s name be put on the ECL.

Petitioner Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi made Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, the chief election commissioner, the provincial election commissioner, the adviser to the chief minister Sindh on finance, the interior secretary and the government of Pakistan respondents in his petition.

The petitioner took the plea that Shah had filed a false affidavit during the 2008 general elections in defiance of Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution and had contested the election despite holding dual citizenship, adding that all the record is available in this regard.

The petitioner further said Shah tried to contest the election on a Sindh Assembly seat in the May 11 general elections but the SC had barred him from participating on May 2. He was appointed adviser on finance by the Sindh chief minister that breach of law and constitution as well as a violation of the court’s orders.

It stated that the chief minister had breached the orders of the court therefore, he should be sacked and declared disqualified from holding any public office and his adviser, Shah, be also disqualified and his name be placed on the ECL.
