Britain decided that visitors from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Ghana would have to pay a cash bond of £3,000 ($4,600) before entering the country.
Media reported that the new visit visa policy would start working from November and the submitted money would be impounded if visitors overstay in Britain following expiry of visa.
According to foreign media, initially the scheme would target hundreds of visitors, but the plan is to extend it to several thousand.
Last year 296,000 people were granted six-month visas from India, 101,000 from Nigeria, 53,000 from Pakistan and 14,000 each from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
