SHC CJ wants lawyers to be more active

Sindh High Court Chief Justice Mushir Alam on Monday said that the bar would have to play its part to end incidents of corruption from the lower judiciary.

“The lawyers should point out corruption and should also pursue the matter for action against such judges,” Justice Mushir Alam said while addressing lawyers in Jamshoro.

He emphasised upon the youth to join the legal profession through which they could best serve their country.

The CJ said that the courts had disposed of around 90 percent of the cases which had been pending in lower and higher judiciary before 2008.

Giving reference of Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s audacious resistance against a military dictator, Justice Alam assured the audience that the judiciary would never bow to any pressure.

“We would continue to dispense justice,” he added.

Justice Mushir Alam earlier inaugurated the new district bar office at the District and Session Court, Jamshoro.
