Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Saturday launched a seven-day traffic management campaign aiming to impart traffic rules among road users to ensure safe driving. Inspector General of Police (IG) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan inaugurated the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, the IG said the seven-day campaign has been launched in light of directions of Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. During the campaign the education wing of the ITP would impart traffic rules among the people at various traffic crossings of the city. Radio FM 92.4 has also chalked out special programmes to acquaint the people about the importance of observing traffic rules. IG, SSP Traffic and SP traffic distributed pamphlets among the drivers.
The IG urged drivers without driving licenses to immediately get their licenses made. SSP traffic Dr Moeen Masood, SP Traffic Chaudhry Khalid Rashid and other officials were also present at the ceremony
He said that drivers having no license or other documents would be given seven days to obtain documents from relevant departments after which the violators would be dealt with sternly and punished irrespective of their position or status.
The campaign includes enhancing awareness against the demerits of underage driving, observing lane discipline driving without license and observance of rules for unregistered vehicles. The IG appealed to the people to avoid permitting underage driving. Unregistered vehicle owners should immediately get their vehicles registered.
