Burney likely to be Sindh governor or adviser to PM

Former human rights minister Ansar Burney is likely to be the new Sindh governor or adviser to the prime minister on human rights.
According to a press statement issued on Sunday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after consultation with Burney is likely to announce his name as an independent and non-political governor of Sindh within the next two to three weeks.
In recognition of Burney’s historical services for peace and human rights he may also be appointed as adviser to the PM on human rights matters, sources said further.
In case of change of the Sindh governor in coming days, sources disclosed that Ansar Burney is so far the most probable candidate for the slot. Burney is the recipient of Sitar-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. In 2005, the US State Department declared Ansar Burney as ‘hero’ in the field of human rights (anti-human trafficking and anti-slavery hero).
