Former human rights minister Ansar Burney is likely to be the new Sindh governor or adviser to the prime minister on human rights.
According to a press statement issued on Sunday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after consultation with Burney is likely to announce his name as an independent and non-political governor of Sindh within the next two to three weeks.
In recognition of Burney’s historical services for peace and human rights he may also be appointed as adviser to the PM on human rights matters, sources said further.
In case of change of the Sindh governor in coming days, sources disclosed that Ansar Burney is so far the most probable candidate for the slot. Burney is the recipient of Sitar-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz. In 2005, the US State Department declared Ansar Burney as ‘hero’ in the field of human rights (anti-human trafficking and anti-slavery hero).

  1. for what ??
when ordinary people are suffering with no jobs; This elite class clings to the throne harder.

  2. The Intelligence man turned human rights activist has been accused of asking for money from incarcerated Indians and Pakistani in each country. I hope this is a bogus news planted by Burney himself.
Nawaz Sharif should order a background check on him before appointing him anything.

  3. He received kickback from ransom paid to Somalian pirates, alongwith Ishrat Ebad and Chinoy.

  4. Excellent choice! Burney has been doing a great job for many years and he’s very well respected in Sindh.
