Nawaz urges Punjab high-ups to evolve strategy to curb crimes

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has underlined the need for evolving a strategy for controlling crimes.
He said this while jointly presiding over a meeting about the police reforms in Punjab along with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Model Town in Lahore.
He said the police councils should be established at police station level to help address the public grievances more effectively. With it‚ the aggrieved parties would have an easy access to find a relief and justice at the earliest. These councils should comprise police officers‚ notables and elite from the civil society as well as the retired judges.
Nawaz said that the police personnel should be provided professional training on scientific lines as per the latest trends and the international standard on the pattern of the training of the armed personnel. He said that it would go a long way in enhancing their performance and capacity building to immediately respond the eventualities and control over the crimes.
Nawaz directed to increase the number of lower courts also for clearing a rush of the pending cases and providing a speedy justice to the litigating parities.
