Business activities in interior Sindh including Karachi remained suspended on Saturday as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) observed a day of mourning against killing of its lawmaker Sajid Qureshi on Friday.
MQM had announced three days of mourning throughout the country against the assassination of Sindh Assembly member Qureshi and his son.
Shops were closed and commercial activities were suspended in most parts of Karachi.
Public transport, petrol stations and offices remained closed in parts of Sindh as security officials guarded major areas.
However, incidents of firing continued in Nawabshah and Karachi since Friday.
MQM Coordination Committee had appealed to traders and transporters to keep their businesses closed on Saturday.
Meanwhile, examinations were also postponed in the metropolis.
MQM MPA Sajid Qureshi, 52, was coming out of a mosque in North Nazimabad after Friday prayers when three gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire at him. His 28-year-old son Waqas was also killed in the incident.
Qureshi was the third MQM MPA to be targeted and killed following general election in May. MQM leader Abdul Rashid appealed to authorities to take action against the killers.
Around 16 people have been killed in the past 24 hours in Karachi, while a bus was torched in Baldia number 4.

  1. This further confirms that MQM MPA and his son were killed on Altaf's instructions.Similar antics were shown when poor Imran Farooq was executed. Remember that demonstrative crying for the media by this catamite?
