LHC takes notice of police torture

The Lahore High Court on Saturday took notice of the news published in a section of press that a man died in alleged police torture in Faisalabad.
The district and sessions judge Faisalabad has been directed to probe the matter and submit a report regarding steps taken by the police.
According to details, Ali Raza Abad police raided a gambling den in Kaleem Shaheed Colony and tortured Ghulam Rasool to death. After the incident, family of Rasool staged a protest demonstration in Chohar Majra Chowk placing his body on the road. The family demanded that the police register a case against ASI Waqas.
The LHC Complaint Cell took serious notice of the news and directed the judge concerned to look into the matter and submit report within a week.

  1. Police was wrong to kill the man while in their custody Policing do need a drastic change in Pakistan and new government must act quickly to overhaul the system By appointing capable and with clean records police officers the public will feel happy and well protected
