The session of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Saturday under the chair of Deputy Speaker Imtiaz Shahid continued the debate on recently presented provincial budget.
According to details, Qaumi Watan Party Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, while talking on provincial budget 2013-14 said, the government, despite difficult circumstances, had present a good and balanced budget that had no new tax imposition. She said the hue and cry by the opposition benches on this budget was baseless.
She said the credit for NFC award did not go to a single political party. She said it was the joint effort of all political forces, adding that steps initiated for the welfare of people in the budget could be achieved with political cohesion and commitment of political parties.
The provincial government, she said, must strive and utilise all available resources for attaining due royalty for the province and efforts should also be made to enhance the volume of this royalty.
She was of the view that no lady MPA was included in the provincial cabinet which, according to her, was regretful.
Taking part in the budget debate, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)MPA Zarin Gul said that the budget was not prepared by the treasury bench, adding that there were promises of change in education and health sectors on emergency basis but funds allocated for the purpose did not match the tall claims of the provincial government. He alleged that hospitals were running short of doctors and nurses and technicians were handling the affairs in hospitals. He further said that since Public Health Department had been established, a rise in patients of hepatitis has been witnessed. These, he said, were the shortcomings of the system and no step taken in the budget to address them.
Gul said that the province was bestowed with rich natural resources and there was a need to take advantage of these resources in a real sense MPA Javed Akbar, in his speech, said that the future of 1613 terminated teachers in Dera Ismail Khan was at stake and suggested formation of a committee to rectify the situation and teachers who fulfilled the criteria must be reinstated.
