Seven killed in a suicide blast in Peshawar

A suspected suicide attack inside a madrassa in Gulshan colony of Peshawar’s Chamkini area on Friday has killed seven people and injured several others.

According to details, a loud blast was heard while the Friday sermon was underway in an Imambargah, which was preceded by gun firing, according to eyewitness accounts.

Other eyewitnesses said that the attacker shot at the guards posted at the entrance of the complex before entering the premises where the explosives were detonated.

The complex, belonging to the Shia sect, comprises of a madrassa and a mosque.

DSP Shaukat said that at least seven people were killed and several others were injured in the blast.

Lady Reading Hospital sources told local media that four bodies and at least 30 wounded had been received at the hospital.

The number of casualties was expected to increase as several of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the incident and the loss of innocent lives while ordering immediate treatment of the victims.

Moreover Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial MInister for Information Shaukat Yousufzai Ali condemned the attack.
