PU teachers rise up for Quaid

Punjab University Academic Staff Association (ASA) on Thursday took out a rally to condemn the terrorist attack at Quaid-e-Azam’s residence in Ziarat, killing of women university students and blast in funeral gathering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

The rally was taken out from Institute of Chemistry to Institute of Education and Research in which a large number of teachers participated.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans such as “Quaid’s love cannot be eliminated from our hearts” and “Let Muslims live a peaceful life”.

Earlier, in a meeting of its executive body attended by President Dr Ehsan Sharif, Secretary Javed Sami and many other teachers, the ASA demanded the government to build models of Quaid’s residency in all provinces in order to give strong message to anti-state elements.

The teachers also requested PU vice chancellor to let them build the model of Quaid’s residency on their own expense.

In another resolution, the teachers demanded Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to reinstate tax rebate on the salaries of teachers. It also demanded announcement of 10 percent increase in the salaries of teachers on tenure track like teachers on BPS.
