Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chief Engineer Muhammad Saleem, while speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Thursday, has said that LESCO in collaboration with the USAID was introducing a monitoring system that would improve the supply of electricity particularly to the industrial areas.
LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar, Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, former president Mian Muhammad Ashraf, QIE Board President M I Kurram, Ahsan Mehmood Butt of Sunder Industrial Estate, Almas Haider, KatarBund Industrial Estate President Mehmood Gaznavi, Hassan Shahzad of Ferozepur Road Industrial Estate, LCCI Executive Committee members Mian Zahid Javaid, Waqar Ahmad Mian and former LTIA chairman Iftikhar Ahmad Bashir also spoke on the occasion.
The LESCO chief said that the objective of the installation of new monitoring system was to ensure equitable supply of electricity to all parts of the city. He said that apart from this system, the provincial government has also started 24-hour feeder-wise monitoring that would help bring improvement in the system.
He also announced formation of a two-member committee comprising LCCI Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad and LESCO Chief Engineer Mehboob Ahmad on load management and for meeting with trade and industry representatives to gather their feedback on electricity supply.
The LESCO Chief categorically said that there would be no unannounced load shedding in Lahore and the industry would be provided with 14 hours of power supply at every cost. He said that the LESCO was getting only 2200/2300 MW of electricity against a demand of 4500/4700 MW but was supplying 14 hours of electricity only because of load management.
