Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) organised an awareness seminar on the Role of Citizens in Keeping City Clean and held the concluding ceremony of Litter Free Lahore campaign in Punjab University’s Faisal Auditorium on Thursday.
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin attended the event as the chief guest. LWMC MD Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, Walled City Lahore Authority DG Kamran Lashari, religious scholar Maulana Raghib Naeemi, senior environmentalist Dr Nawaz Chaudhry and Institute of Communication Studies director also spoke on the occasion.
Yasin said that only citizens could bring about a change in keeping the city clean whereas Kamran Lashari proposed the idea of widening company’s operation scope to other cities of Punjab.
Prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners in different categories of participants of Litter Free Lahore campaign. The campaign was conducted from April 23 to May 3 and students of different schools participated in art, photography and litter warden competitions. Lahore Grammar School, Sanjan Nagar Trust School Youhana Abad, Crescent Model School, Shadab School Shahdra, CDGL School Chohan Road, Beaconhouse School, Allied School and Queen Mary School participated in the seminar.
Faisal Auditorium remained packed with audience during the seminar and more than 1,500 students and people from various walks of life participated. The participants appreciated LWMC’s effort to bring people together on a point of mutual concern which was vital to maintain healthy environment and disease free lifestyle.
