The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued notice to Allama Iqbal University Vice Chancellor Nazir Ahmed Sangi in a case seeking removal of him from the position on charges of fake degree of PhD.
A single member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi resumed hearing of a plea seeking removal of the VC from the post. The plea has been filed by the Employees Welfare Association of the university though Khurram M Qureshi.
During the course of hearing, the counsel apprised the bench that Sangi was holding a PhD degree from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, but unfortunately neither the particular subject of alleged PhD was mentioned in the degree nor area of research has been mentioned in the degree. He argued that as per the PhD degree of the respondent dated July 20, 1989, the admission was given to him on July 6, 1989 which shows that Sangi was the only person all over the world who passed PhD exam along with research work within 14 days. The degree of the Sangi appeared doubtful as it also contained grammatical mistakes in the language, he added. He requested the court to remove Sangi from the position and declare him incompetent and ineligible for government service.

Dr. Sangi is not only know for his corruption but for pleasing people at higher places to get priced positions. His appointment in the Department of Computer Science (AIOU) was illegal as he possess mechanical engineering degree from Mehran University, Sind. His alleged Masters is in CAD/CAM that has nothing to do with computer science. He was never shortlisted for the post of VC in the initial two screenings. His name was included in the intervention of an influential MNA from Sind.
Sangi has ruined the second largest mega-university of the world (AIOU) through his incompetence and corruption.
Dr. Sangi has been working in the University for the last many years. wy this hue and cry at this belated stage. Can some body check the MBA degree of HEC ED
