The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday said it would issue a final order if the commission formed to recover missing Muhammad Jamil failed to do its job.
A two-member SC bench, presided over by Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, took up the case for hearing. Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Ali Zai and other police officers appeared in the court.
The SC was told that efforts for the recovery of Muhammad Jamil were underway. The ISI and MI had said he was sent to detention centers, adding that what happened to them later was not known. The commission had ordered the intelligence agencies to present Jamil in court.
Justice Khilji said, “If you know that they are in detention centers, then why don’t you tell?”
The DAG said the commission had given the intelligence agencies a last chance.
Justice Khilji said, “We will wait for it and we are adjourning the hearing until June 27. The commission’s order should be presented to in court. If a written copy is not available, then the court should be verbally informed about the order.”
Jamil’s father burst into tears in the court. He told the court that “the Rawalpindi CPA had told himself that Jamil was present there”.
To this the bench said, “We will issue an order right away and if the commission is unable to recover him, we will do what you say.”
The court later adjourned the hearing until June 27.
