Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said the government would respect the agreement of gas pipeline with Iran that was signed by the former government.
He assured to work with Iran on the project of gas pipeline according to the agreement.
Media reports said that the country which would delay the project would have to pay fine according to the agreement whether it would be Iran or Pakistan, Abbasi cleared.
“The fine mentioned in agreement is not only for Pakistan but also applies on Iran,” he added.
The minister said that if Iran would delay the project it would have to pay $35 million daily, if Pakistan delayed the project it would also have to pay $30 million daily.
Abbasi said that the date of fine against any delay is December 31, 2014 mentioned in the agreement.
