The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Tuesday announced that it would accept marriage certificates issued by minorities’ institutions and councils, including churches.

According to NADRA‚ it would also accept birth certificates from these authorities for 3 months so that the churches could run public awareness campaigns for their community.

After the three month period‚ Christian citizens would be required to submit the Child Birth Registration Certificate issued by local governments.

The NADRA chairman told a Christian delegation the authority has so far registered over 1.2 million Christians, ensuring their rights as genuine citizens of Pakistan.
