Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali on Monday announced that the Convention Centre would be converted into a facilitation centre for resolving all residents’ problems under one roof.

According to sources, the minister said that the proposal would be finalised after the prime minister’s approval.

Sources said that problems of residents relating to local revenue officers, police, Capital Administration Authority (CDA) and administration would be resolved through this facilitation center.

Sources added that the First Information Report (FIR) system and land record system in Islamabad would be computerised, and the FIR would be available online. Further, all relevant data would be collected by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Moreover, the sources said that the interior minister stated that according to intelligence agencies, Islamabad’s kachi abadis were being used by terrorists as hiding places, a development which needed to be checked.

According to sources, a proposal to give security chips to residents was also under consideration as it would end unnecessary delays at security check posts.

Domestic labour’s data would also be maintained.
