Sindh government employees have lauded the raise in their salaries announced under the provincial budget for 2013-2014 on Monday. Those employees falling in BPS 1-15 will receive a 15% raise, and those in BPS 16-22 will receive 10%. They also appreciated the 10% raise in pensions, for which the monthly minimum has been increased from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5000. Speaking to APP, the employees noted that the much needed support would be helpful in tackling the fast-growing inflation rate, and will provide them considerable relief. “Most of us were, however, expecting a minimum 20% raise in our salaries,” said an officer associated with the provincial Social Welfare Department. The employees also appealed to the provincial government to adopt a stricter attitude towards hoarders and profiteers, so that they won’t be able to cheat the general public.
