Altaf for referendum on joining Sindh govt

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has called for a three-day referendum over whether the party should join the Sindh government.

In a telephonic address on Monday, Altaf asked party workers whether the party should join the government or not.

During his address, Altaf asked MQM parliamentarians and leaders if they wanted to be part of the provincial government or opposition.

In response, the parliamentarians and leaders said they wanted to sit on the opposition benches.

On Sunday, a PPP delegation led by Rehman Malik had visited the MQM headquarters Nine Zero and invited the MQM to join the Sindh government.

The MQM chief claimed that not even a single terrorist was killed by security forces during the operation at the Bolan Medical Complex in Quetta.

He added that the terrorists had escaped or were made to escape.

The MQM chief questioned why LeJ, LeT and TTP were roaming free while a state-sponsored operation was underway against his party.

Altaf said he would file petitions with the UN and chief justice of Pakistan against the killing of MQM workers in Karachi.

Earlier, he criticised the way MQM workers were being killed, kidnapped and misplaced.

He said, “Why do law enforcement agencies conduct operations in Mohajir areas of Karachi?”

Altaf said his party did not want to fight, but it should not be compelled to do so.
