KP government bans forest cutting

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Environment Minister Ibrar Hussain on Sunday said the provincial government has decided to impose a ban on all sorts of forest cutting.
The minister vowed that they would provide force to control the cutting and smuggling of wood. Hussain said all steps would be taken to protect the forests in the province. Environment Secretary Adil Khan and Qaumi Watan Party Divisional President Ibrar Saeed were also present.
Similarly, ban has also been imposed on the issuance of the Transport Permit (TP). “I have taken this department as a challenge and will personally accompany the officials of department in the checking of TP,” he said.
The minister directed the forests secretary to prepare a report for induction of 500 to 600 unemployed educated people in the department. He also desired that the department should come up with a viable plan to establish Forests College Tanawal area in Mansehra District.
