Zulfiqar Ali’s murder: Two more accused held

Police arrested two more aides of detained accused Abdullah, allegedly involved in killing Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, who was public prosecutor in the Benazir Bhutto murder case against former president Pervez Musharraf.
One of the detainees hails from Mardan while the second one is from Mulkwal. Both were shifted to an unknown location for further investigation.
One of the detained, Tanveer, was driving the car while others gunned down Chaudhry Zulfiqar.
According to reports, the accused Abdullah has been sent on a judicial remand owing to deteriorating health. The accused is being treated at PIMS.
Police had earlier claimed operations were underway to arrest the two aides of Abdullah.
Ali was the top public prosecutor in high profile cases implicating Pervez Musharraf and several members of militant groups.
Musharraf had been accused of failing to provide adequate security for Benazir Bhutto at the time of her death and Ali initiated the move to arrest him for this after the former military ruler returned to Pakistan to contest elections.
Ali was also believed to be close to submitting final evidence against seven members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group who are on trial for planning and executing the 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people.
