Saidpur model village is facing an acute water shortage and even the little water supplied to the area is filled with impurities.

Local residents have demanded the authorities to ensure constant water supply to the area.

In addition to the water scarcity problem, dirty water from hotels located on Margalla Hills is polluting the streams flowing to the Saidpur village.

Rehan Abbasi, a resident of Saidpur village told that the sewerage water’s route was seriously jeopardizing the villagers’ health.

Many other locals held that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was behind this negligence and have asked the authority to separate the sewage’s route from Saidpur village’s streams.

Further, Railway Scheme No 9 is also suffering from a terrible water shortage, with Loi Bher being the only tube-well in the area, and which has been out of order since the last 10 months, but the Railway Housing Society management remains indifferent to the residents’ plight.

Residents said they had been filing applications since the last 10 months with the administration but all have gone unheeded.

“Our parents and housewives have to bring water from far off areas to meet the daily needs. We are all from lower middle class backgrounds and cannot arrange water through tankers as it is too expensive,” said a group of residents.

They demanded that repair work on the faulty tube-well be commenced immediately.
