Measles on Saturday claimed three more lives raising the total deaths to 158 in the province.
According to Health Department officials, the deaths were reported from Bhakkar, Khanewal and Kasur.
However, most of the victims belonged to Lahore, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Sialkot districts.
As many as 160 new cases of measles were reported from Punjab, including 30 from Lahore hospitals increasing the total number of cases to 17,849 during the last six months.
Meanwhile, Punjab Health Services Director General Dr Tanveer Ahmed said that during investigation it was found that a majority of deaths in Lahore were caused by severe pneumonia and delay in reaching hospitals.
He urged the people to cooperate with the vaccinators and contact doctors without any delay in case of symptoms of measles in their children.
