IHC terminates Deputy Registrar for acquiring post deceptively

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi on Friday terminated the Deputy Registrar S.M. Tariq Channa for obtaining his post in a deceitful manner.

The IHC’s notification stated that the deputy registrar did not posses the requisite qualification as pointed out by an internal audit officer.

It added that he was not eligible to apply for the post and had done so through some manipulation.

The CJ declared Tariq Channa’s appointment “illegal and void initio”, stating that the initial post had been advertised by the defunct IHC in March 2008 and its minimum qualification was graduation.

Channa had applied for the said post posing as a graduate but had actually acquired his degree later.

The notification further stated that an inquiry was conducted to probe the matter and according to the inquiry report the above allegation was proved true and Channa’s dismissal from service was proposed.

His subsequent appointments and promotions as deputy registrar were all declared illegal.
